Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is a process of experiential learning through which you learn by doing and reflecting upon what you have done. It is a journey of discovery that will enhance your personal and interpersonal development, and thus requires you to be self-organized, curious and ready to challenge yourself.
The name of our CAS program, You Le, comes from the famous passage of Fan Zhongyan, founder of Suzhou High School, "Be the first to bear the world's hardship, and the last to enjoy its comfort." We hope the students can empathize with people around them, be aware of what is happening around the world, and devote themselves to solving real-life problems.
Here at SZZX-ID, we find opportunities for students to learn from masters of, for example, Classical Chinese GuQin, woodcut print, and more. Access to labs at the local universities as well as topnotch enterprises in Suzhou provides students with opportunities to explore, hands-on, the most updated technological developments. Successful completion of CAS is a requirement for the award of the IB Diploma. Students need to maintain a reasonable balance between creativity, activity, and service and cover all 3 strands in the CAS activities.
